GrooGrux?!
you should know that the “GrooGrux King” is the nickname of their saxophonist, Leroy Morris, who died in a tragic accident last year. it was actually really pretty sad. ryan was really really sad for days.
anyway, that’s why the album is named as such.
and the album is getting kick-ass reviews. Like 4 stars and shit.

So… there is apparently a new Dave Matthews Band album happening?
I discovered this fact while watching Saturday Night Live with Erin and Carolyn. It had been a REALLY long day/week/quarter/year, and we were tearing through the wine with a bit of abandon. All of a sudden, a commercial comes on for the new Dave Matthews Band album, and I’m POSITIVELY BAFFLED. And yes, that needs caps-lock because it was really that dramatic.
They’re still a band? Is this a sketch? Seriously? Is Andy Samberg about to pop out?
And what is the title of this forthcoming album? ”Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.”
THE GROOGRUX KING. GrooGrux.
At this point I am shouting at the TV, “NO! THAT CAN’T BE REAL! THIS IS TOTALLY SNL!”
But apparently this is actually a thing. Like, a real one. Apparently someone else is smoking the same sort of crack that my upstairs neighbors do.
